About “Royal Crush”:

This is a tandem piece of art that was created together and is meant to be hung together. It represents the fickle the relationship between the King and Queen of Hearts. Throughout the piece I have incorporated many details that speak to the relationship between the them.

King and Queen

The Details of “Royal Crush” Explained:

You will see that the King of Hearts is missing one of his roses from his chest.¬†In addition if you look closely at the heart or at the lining of his clothes you will see the saying “she loves me, she loves me not.

When you look closely at the Queen of Hearts you will see that in one hand she is holding the rose that is missing from the king and in the other she has one of the pedals from the Rose. This and the stenciling both emphasize that she is saying saying “he loves me, he loves me not.”

These sayings “he loves me, he loves me not” :she loves me, she loves me not” can really summarize the piece and the relationship between the King and Queen of Hearts. Sometimes they end up together in beautiful and successful fashion and sometimes they are better of on their own.

The Materials Used in Making “Royal Crush”

If you look closely you will see that the background is made up of old vintage playing cards. These make up the base of the piece, I then used a combination of spray paint, ¬†stenciling and epoxy to complete each piece. Both are on wooden canvas’s and are 30″ x 40″
